OUR STORY
In 2014, while in graduate school, Dr. Joseph Ocasio recognized a critical gap in accessible, high-quality ministry training for everyday believers.
Many churches, especially independent or under served communities lack access to structured, affordable leadership development. Inspired by 1 Peter 3:15, “Always be prepared to give an answer for the hope you have,” Dr. Joseph Ocasio founded Crossway Institute to fill that gap.
Crossway exists to equip believers…whether preparing for ministry or growing in their faith…with practical, biblically grounded training. Our Growth Tracks are available in both English and Spanish, offering flexible, accessible learning that empowers you to learn, lead, and serve with confidence.
And when you’re ready to go further, we make sure your time isn’t wasted. Through our partnership with Grace Christian University, Crossway courses may be eligible for college credit or elective transfer, providing a clear pathway to pursue a degree…without repeating what you’ve already studied.
We’re here to bridge the gap…helping churches disciple leaders while opening the door to higher education and long-term ministry effectiveness.

OUR FOUNDER
Dr. Joseph Ocasio, an Ordained Minister with over twenty years of experience in ministry and Christian higher education. Dr. Ocasio understands both the financial and cultural barriers facing pastors today. This program is his response – bilingual, accessible, grounded Biblically and locally empowering to the church today. An Author of two chapters in Los Profetas: The Prophetic Role of Hispanic Churches in America, Dr. Ocasio is passionate about equipping leaders for multicultural ministry.

“CROSSWAY” reflects two Biblical truths:
“Pick up your CROSS and follow [the WAY]” (Luke 9:23) — a call to commitment, sacrifice, and spiritual growth.
“I am the WAY, the Truth, and the Life” (John 14:6) — a reminder that true discipleship is found in Christ alone.
