OUR STORY
In 2014, while in graduate school, Dr. Joseph Ocasio recognized a critical gap in accessible, high-quality ministry training for everyday leaders.
Many churches, particularly independent and underserved communities, lacked access to structured and affordable leadership development. Inspired by 1 Peter 3:15—“Always be prepared to give an answer for the hope that you have”—Crossway Institute was founded to help address that need.
Over time, however, another need became increasingly clear. Leaders were not only wrestling with biblical and ministry questions. They were navigating people, organizational culture, finances, strategy, governance, communication, change, and the challenge of building organizations capable of sustaining their mission.
Crossway’s mission began to expand.
Today, Crossway Institute builds upon its ministry-training roots by providing practical organizational leadership education for leaders serving in churches, nonprofits, schools, businesses, community organizations, and other mission-driven institutions.
Our Christian foundation has not changed. Our understanding of the leaders we are called to serve has grown.
Crossway continues to make leadership development accessible in both English and Spanish while helping leaders connect what they learn with the real organizations and communities they serve.

OUR FOUNDER
Dr. Joseph A. Ocasio is an organizational leader, educator, author, consultant, and ordained minister with more than four decades of experience across business, ministry, higher education, financial management, and organizational leadership. He is the founder of Crossway Institute and serves as Managing Partner and co-owner of Ministry Advisory Group (MAG).
Throughout his career, he has served in executive leadership, financial management, higher education administration, ministry, and organizational development. His work focuses on helping leaders and organizations navigate change, understand culture, steward resources, develop people, and build healthy organizations.
His writing and research explore organizational leadership, cultural intelligence, adaptive leadership, and Balanced Stewardship Leadership.

“CROSSWAY” reflects two Biblical truths:
“Pick up your CROSS and follow [the WAY]” (Luke 9:23) — a call to commitment, sacrifice, and spiritual growth.
“I am the WAY, the Truth, and the Life” (John 14:6) — a reminder that true discipleship is found in Christ alone.
